The CB type element is a constricting configuration. In this design, the fabric reinforced elastomeric tube is integrally bonded to the rim I.D. The inward facing Friction Shoe Assemblies (FSA) are attached, via pins through a pad on the elastomeric tube. The FSAs are of a non-ventilating design. The retarding force originating at the friction surface is transmitted as shear through the tube and directly into the tube/rim bonded interface. Because the shear load is transferred through the elastomeric tube and the friction shoes are non-ventilated, these type CB series clutches and brakes are best suited to high speed, low torque applications.
The CB style clutch utilizes an integral rim/tube construction. This unique concept provides versatility and the ability to compensate for less than perfect alignment in the driving system while still delivering a smooth transfer of power. Reliability, low inertia and simplicity of design make the ELASTA-FLEX CB an excellent choice for numerous high-speed, cyclical clutch operations and low-to-medium torque systems. |
